Stamped Concrete

Stamped concrete is achieved by applying at least two layers of color hardener onto a poured concrete surface. This is followed by adding a release agent (could be in powder or liquid form) to achieve specific color contrast and to avoid the imprint form being disturbed. A texturing mat or skin will then be applied on the surface’s perimeter before the concrete slab is fully stamped. The remaining release agent will afterwards be removed and a curing solution applied prior to installation of control joints and sealant.

One good thing about stamped concrete is the variety of designs available such as slate, brick, flagstone, wood, and the like. Patterns like running bond, European fan, random interlocking, and hexagon also allow for custom look. This decorative concrete technique could also be used in many areas including patios, pool decks, driveways, walkways, and courtyards.

Textured Concrete

Another popular decorative concrete method that we use is called textured concrete. Just like stamped concrete, textured concrete offers a number of excellent options in terms of finishes such as stenciled, stamped, float and trowel, rock salt, and broom. Broom finish is best used in areas that are normally wet like pool decks and walkways since the finish has a non-slip surface. Meanwhile, float and trowel finish is ideal for driveways, patios, pathways, and decks. On the other hand, stamped or stenciled finishes are recommended for practically every surface area since they offer numerous design options, thus making them highly versatile.
